Taking a Risk—Creating my Very Own Gallery

I am a person who has made handcrafted sterling silver jewelry for the past 25 years. Throughout those years, I have built up my skills, taught others the basics and beyond, and created jewelry for my online and physical shop. Sounds good, right?

It has been a great journey, but I have been increasingly becoming dissatisfied with my jewelry making, feeling as if I am spinning my wheels. I have spent most of my non-teaching time preparing for shows, putting jewelry on line, and in the shop—so what is the problem? The problem is that it is all production work to make sales. Making jewelry for expediency and to make sales doesn’t always satisfy the need to tap into the artistry that I know is inside of me. I figured out that I needed time to create art, and not to be a slave to the business or the shop, so I have made the difficult decision to close my jewelry shop.

It’s not that I won’t be creating jewelry to sell, it just means that the level of the jewelry and the level of the sale will be changing. I am now going to focus on creating jewelry and other metal objects that tell a story, and that are works of art. My focus will not to be making every day jewelry, but jewelry that has special meaning, tells a story, and is truly unique. I want my jewelry to come from my soul, and touches someone else.

In the spirit of this, I am now focused on creating a Gallery for my work. If it takes me weeks or months to make a piece, so be it! This is so incredibly freeing, and I know I am lucky to be in a position to follow my Muse! Be on the lookout for my new pieces to come!

My shop page is still active on this website as I have a few items left for sale, but will be closing down soon and will be replaced with a Gallery page that will look very different. The price points will also be reflecting the art, the materials and the work that will be going into creating the pieces that tells a story and touches the right person.

PLEASE STAY TUNED AS I POST HERE ABOUT MY JOURNEY INTO THIS NEW PHASE AT SILVERSPIRAL CREATIONS
