Join Us for the Next Round of Metalsmith Classes Starting after Labor Day!
Come learn metalsmithing techniques for small objects such as jewelry, small vessels or small sculptures, in a safe, clean environment. We now have 3 levels of classes available! Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced!
You will be learning and perfecting techniques including soldering, hammering, forging, texturing, piercing, design, setting stones, and planning/building your projects.

BEGINNER METALSMITHING CLASS
Metalsmith Class Beginner level is for those who have never done metalsmithing before or those who want to brush up on the basics. There is nothing more fun than a group of people hammering, burning and creating together! Students will learn many basic skills including soldering, hammering, forming, soldering, annealing, texturing, sawing, and cabochon setting. Students will complete 1-2 finished projects by the end of the 6 week course. The materials fee covers the cost of solder and other consumables excluding silver. Silver is available for purchase at the class, copper and brass are available as part of the materials fee.
Class fee is $275, Materials & Lab Fee $35.00 (materials fee is paid at the first class).

INTERMEDIATE METALSMITHING CLASS
Students will advance the skills learned in the Beginner class, and will focus on more complex design elements in their projects. Students will continue to perfect their skills in areas of design, soldering, forming, piercing and setting cabochons or create basic faceted settings. New tools for working with metals will be introduced and utilized at this level. Students may choose to select an area of concentration for guided assistance in creating piece(s) of jewelry or small sculpture. Focus will be on creating pieces with form and function, understanding the design process for building pieces that are both beautiful and strong. Students will have the choice of working with Sterling Silver, Brass, or Copper and may work in mixed metals. Copper and Brass are offered at the studio,

ADVANCED METALSMITHING CLASS
This class is for students who have completed Intermediate Metalsmithing or for those who are current intermediate level metalsmiths who wish to explore and add targeted new skills for small objects. Targeted skills can include 3 dimensional jewelry (using the hydraulic press, hand building jewelry and/or vessels), advanced piercing skills, stone setting, tube setting, advanced soldering, melting and re-using silver scrap, and more.
This class has an individualized approach. Students will be exploring practicing their skills on a project of their own design and choosing, with instructor help. Demonstrations will be a part of this 6 week class. Students will have access to the tools in the studio, however, students will need to bring their own metals, burs (for stone setting–(instructor can help you to determine what to order in advance of the class). There is a $15 Lab Fee payable in the first class.
